When we were doing the fish chant I would suggest there should be 5 claps in the third row, and do you know what the term "steaming in" means?

Things must be going well if this is what we have to (try to) female dog about. We need PH to give a very slightly downbeat interview to take the heat off the t-shirts.

And yes, I am fully aware what "steaming in" means and I don't believe it glorifies football violence. There are kids who sing that song who weren't born when it originated. It doesn't have the same connotations it did 20 or 30 years ago.

You know I'd never really thought about it, I'd just always kind of assumed steaming in was something to do with fishing boats

Just looking at the website, should there be another "clap" on the Fish T shirt, and does the "steaming in" T shirt glorify football violence?

I think you are right. I thought straight away of the other meanings.  "Steaming" is still used as a slang for gang robberies and "steaming in" is still used as slang for football gang violence. Sad to say, the idea of it referring to a trawler coming down the river to the Fish Dock gates is a long way from the memories of people today.

I wonder how many people really, truly, give a excrement? I doubt arry even really cares that much.

Does anyone give a toss? Serious question - please speak now if you feel the use of "steaming in" on a t-shirt is glorifying football violence.

'steaming in' is a relatively new phrase, when I was younger it was marching in, as in when the saints ....

What are you on about?

It's an opinion. Just because you don't like it and don't care what it says on a t-shirt does not give you the right to get on your high horse to belittle the views of someone who is making a simple factual point about the wording.

If it was on a t-shirt I would not say it was glorifying violence. I might suggest it was deliberately provocative though, and might suggest not wearing it while travelling on the London Underground. There again, you might be one of those people who likes the adrenalin rush of doing such daring deeds.

The idea is a good one. I like it. People who have good ideas are usually sensible enough to check out if they are going to work like they intend.
