Can Hurst keep the plates spinning with 5 subs and those on the fringe? The way they greeted the away fans shows fu commitment , just hope that those just outside the 16 stay focused for when it's their turn to play !

So long as players are there on merit eg playing with effort in games  and not on name then I think squad players could cope with that.(According to what I ve read  )

Hopefully the FA trophy will give a few 'squad' players a few games !!

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

I have to say the reaction from the players at full time on saturday was really good to see, each and everyone of them going mad. Likewise Paul Hurst came over and was also clearly over the moon. Their reaction showed real passion.

Hopefully Hurst uses the FA trophy as run out for the fringe players/youths and gives the first team a rest.Gives them valuable game time and experience and if they do well something for the manager to think about when it comes to selection for the league

it's easy enough to go crazy after a win when you've played the 90 minutes yourself.. the thing that I loved and stood out was the substitutes who sat cold for 90 minutes celebrating with the rest of the players and come over to the fans at full time.. it shows they're in it together, they could have quite easily just strolled over clapped and walked off or just walked straight into the tunnel

I too think Hurst will use the fringe players in the trophy,

With a couple of younger lads in the team,

We still could go a long way in that cup as well,

They are 'together' - hopefully a nice winning run now with a few wins from games we've been drawing recently. Defence seems to have really tightened up.

In an ideal world we'd get a big money spinner of a third round draw, knock 5 past Shrewsbury and intercourse the Trophy off by playing the u12s but we'll end up with an even lowlier club than us in the draw and get humped by Shrewsbury.

I think, or at least hope, that the players currently not getting much game time recognise how it's very much a squad game these days. It's not like the starting 11 has stayed the same all season and I'm sure it will change as injuries and form have an impact.

If anything, our squad is too small. I wouldn't worry too much about players kicking off about not starting. Any of the small first team squad showing any aptitude in training will be given a chance.

Personally, Shaun Pearson would be the first name on my teamsheet, if I was Shaun I wouldn't be happy, he may choose to move on in June but the competition between the three first team centre backs can only be good for the club in the short to medium term.

A little disappointed we haven't managed to sign Brett Williams on loan from Stevenage instead of our rather pathetic but wadded rivals Forest Green. I suppose we'll manage with a goal shy kid from Birmingham's under 21's instead.

really?  a goal shy kid under 21? any need for that dig at him mate? if you'd have stayed sober enough you'd have seen actually he's a decent player and already made big contributions to gtfc.

Have you actually watched Jones? He brings a lot to the team with his pace and clever movement. Williams has had one good season and he's 28 in a week.

The kid: Played 3, scored 0.

Brett Williams: 114 (45 as sub)      48 goals

If you was impartial, where would your money be? An almost one in two striker, proven at this level or a kid from Birmingham yet to score a goal? Merely widens the gap in quality between the clubs. FGR are a pathetic village club, backed by a loony with money to burn, it isn't a criticism of GTFC. Just a point to be made. I'm not one for burying my head in the sand, league position says it all and will do after 46.

Half of which came in one season and he's failed to replicate that form at any other point. Just because a player is available doesn't mean he should be bought, he wouldn't fit in to the mould favoured by PH of players who will work hard off the ball, he's been pretty lazy every time I've seen him. Let FGR splash more cash, they're probably spending double what we spend and I bet we'll still finish above them.

Scored less than LJL last season and I think we know what the reaction would be on here if FGR had signed him!

I wish we'd signed a striker on loan who'd scored goals in the Conference before moving to League 2 and struggling. That would have definitely ended with happy supporters and a new fans favourite and nobody ending up at Tranmere.

Another player that has seemingly signed for FGR because they've offered him a wedge of cash, hardly the most inspiring place is it? League positions at the minute in our league aren't really worth anything, it's that tight.

I'd take Jones over a player who did have a proven record at this level but in recent times hasn't exactly torn any trees up. Some might disagree but I've seen a far better attitude and footballing awareness in Jones than I have in the alleged injured Bogle...

One of the things I don't get about several posters here is this: everyone agrees football is a squad game nowadays - but when PH makes changes he's 'accused' of tinkering. There seems to be a shortfall in logic here...

Don't wish to bring negativity because we do have a strong team spirit but I don't think Jack Mackreth is very happy.

At Barrow I saw him near the bar and he was speaking on his mobile to somebody and he was visibly not very happy, he was saying down the phone or words to this effect "I'm not in the flipping team again blah blah blah " he was effing and jeffing and he wasn't happy.

Then on Saturday I went straight home after the game but a friend saw him after the game and he was moaning and groaning then about how despite scoring and getting praised by Hurst in the last game he still isn't even on the bench!

Now I know he said in the telegraph he's happy and doesn't want to go out on loan but he's hardly going to come out and say "I'm not happy, I want to leave " is he ? He would have told Hurst internally I guess.

I will be very suprised if he's here next season and I hope he isn't, not good enough as far as I'm concerned.

in regards to Jack he's a half decent player but the players playing in front of him are better. If he's unhappy let him go on loan for a month somewhere to get first team football.
I'd be upset if I wasn't picked and he was obviously trying to have a private conversation with someone (maybe partner?) on his phone which for me let's be honest we all do if something doesn't go our way!

I like to see players upset when they're left out the squad.  It shows hunger.

Jack has had plenty of opportunities since he has been here and PH has given him a fair crack. Unfortunately he has only really produced to his potential intermittently and those in the team are currently performing better. If he does not want to go on loan he will have to work harder and up his game. He can be a useful player to come off the bench as shown against Welling. From what he said I think PH, like the fans, is a bit frustrated that Jack gets into his stride but then stops and checks back to play a simple sideways pass. We all want to see him keep going, hit the byeline and play in a low hard cross. He just does not do it often enough. Having said all that, I don't see Jack as a disruptive element and seems to be fine with other players. When he got his late goal against Welling they all rushed to congratulate him.

I'm not a massive fan of Mackreth, but after his Welling cameo I was surprised to see him not make the 16 at Eastleigh. I don't really see the need to have both East and Robertson on the bench.

But then again I'm some twat on a messageboard, not someone who's worked in football for decades!

He's not as good as Arnold, so there's not a lot else to say. We've acquired better players since he signed and he is a back up squad player now. That's football Jack.

I would agree, especially as East can cover both left and right back. Having another attacking option would be the way to go for me. Pearson and East on the bench gives plenty of defensive options. With Shaun there you also have a sub goalie

Cryptic tweet from Bogle today "new lease of life".
Anyone want to wildly speculate what our hot and cold striker is on about?

Been told he's fully fit, and no recurring niggles to keep him not playing???

Hurst has told him he's put £50 on him being the league's top goal scorer, but Padraig been given a start on him ???
