The Council have put together the draft local plan ready for their cabinet meeting this month, and it includes GTFC relocation. Still not finalised though. Page 193 for GTFC on this PDF:

from this page: http://www.nelincs.gov.uk/committees/committees.aspx?commid=10&meetid=2502&agendaid=2371

The Main bit:

not entirely sure if "preference to town centre and edge of centre sites" is a good thing. I've not bothered reading the whole document but there is a section on Freeman Street which might relate.

I get the feeling the council are happy for you to intend to wear your cap, but not entirely bothered about helping you find where you left it.

Freshney Place is dead already (its hardly a top quality shops occupying the units these days), 18 empty units, sign of the times and they will be more. Its time for this council to finally open their eyes and realize it's a waste of money trying to save Freshney Place.
Freshney Place killed of freeman Street was the Council or Freshney Place bothered what happened to Freeman Street. Our shopping habits have changed since Freshney Place was built.
Time to be bold and look what people actual want from their shopping experience today.  A place were a family can go shopping together, eat and enjoy leisure activities in close proximity, something this town has been crying out for, for a long time.

Yep bit like meadowhall.....with a huge screen and film playing.

Too many old council on the panel....need younger fresh ideas.  I just think the older councillors are scared of change.

Went there once and once was enough. I don't go to Freshney place either but if that is what it takes to get a new stadium, then so be it.

Shopping maaaawls need to be altered  Princess Quay is a fine example of how things change , that place is a dump now over half the units empty food halls gone.  Freshney Place needs a food hall ,  somewhere people can meet and eat .  As it was before  TK Max size wise it's big enough but some of the characters that frequent the place leaves a lot to be desired.

The council will still be talking  about the new ground when we're long gone , that's what they're good at with certain persons only too willing to stymie any new proposal . If and it's a big if , they do decide where it will be , it won't please everyone . So the merry go round will continue .

Alexander retail ?  4 units occupied 4 empty , near motorway , easy parking ,  close to bus services .
