Burnsy is covering Fentygate and MayDay from 11pm this morning

"Pound for pound, and class for class, the best football team I have seen in England since the war. In the league they were in they played football nobody else could play. Can't wait, I'll be listening, Burnsy doesn't hold back.

Indeed, Burnsy is trying to get Council leader Philip Jackson and local MP Lia Nici to comment on the issues.

Local elections coming up in a few months. Do the people of New Waltham & Millionaires row have no ambitions beyond being represented by this man? Should he hold his seat, is his cabinet position tenable?

I’m certainly glad I don’t live in GY anymore.

I didn’t realise the RSPCA had released a cats’ choir record under the name of Sam Smith. Is that the penalty for listening to Burnsey ?

All a lot of nothing so far and the first telephone caller where I expected it to get tasty was more concerned that he and his mates couldn't get into BP to watch the match while May could

What a stupid programme, it’s more about Burns than Town. He wants to be a political pundit. James Wahtsit dare not say anything and ummed and ahhed and then there’s some twit trying to turn it into a mental health issue.

I'm sure Burnsey is thoroughly enjoying poking the hornets nest, but he's right, this is an issue wider than GTFC. Just wish he could get someone more knowledgeable and erudite on the show to discuss the implications.

Burns is Radio Humberside's version of Talksport's Jim White, just loves the drama. This is the best thing that has ever happened to his show. Revelling in it.

We’re like an episode of The Simpsons - ‘Marge vs The Monorail’

Fenty is Mayor Quimby
Mr Burns is Mr Burns
Gally is Barney Gumble

Alick May is Lyle Lanley - the fast-talking salesman leads a song-and-dance routine that convinces the townspeople to build a monorail rather than using the Town’s regeneration money for sensible causes

Yes, there may well be implications but without some better facts nobody can truly say what. So far it is a bloke we don’t like who has a crim record going to BP and pleading he’s a good bloke really, here’s some cash to prove it. Then there’s an apparent connection between Fenty the shareholder and Fenty the Chair of Regeneration. And who is going to be daft enough to give an interview to an idiot like Burns? They really would be fools to go within a Humber Bridge of that clown. One fool is going to do it after 12 so I gather. He clearly doesn’t know Burns and he won’t say anything he hasn’t already said in his statement even under the 3rd Degree.

My thought on May investing in our great club is.

Where did he get the money from.?

I would insist he proved he obtained all his money honestly before we except a penny.

Burnsy struggled to develop the story. Its telling that Fenty, the board and the council are saying the bare minimum. Beware fishies, after the bluster has subsided the charm offensive and bu!!sh!t will begin!

To be honest its already begun with May's statement and his Radio Humberside interview later.

We haven’t really seen any bluster apart from Burns desperation to stay relevant. May is not relevant, though he may eventually prove to be the weak link. He’s  a pawn in the business that I’m interested in which is the JF Property  Supermarket . He had one go with the Parkway and it looks as though he was preparing another attempt but got stymied by COVID.

May can say what he likes, he just gets out of town anytime he fancies having spent nothing. JF on the other hand lives here and he will issue his usual unfathomable statement while Day and the Council will issue their measured and legally checked responses.

If anything comes of this it will be back room politics that affects the outcome more than the club.

It's clear from that interview that he sees pound signs from regeneration money. Has talked to members of the council. Sickens me that wherever public money is available, all the shysters turn up.

Fenty met him two years ago and May told him about his past.

Then still went into business with him.

Oh John your political life is on a knife edge .

Haven't been listening, don't really want to. My mind was made up the moment I learnt of this man's past, and that Fenty wants to go into business with him.

Don't want May anywhere near this club. He can get lost.

Same for Fenty. Says he's a fan but it's quite clear to me and everyone else that he's taking money out of the club whenever we make a profit.

And that is not the action of a fan.

Fenty puts politics before football, and himself before politics.

There is nothing to like or love about our football club at the moment. Fenty is on the wrong side of history now and there's nothing he can do to rectify it. The damage is done. He'll never be loved.

The sooner he realises this — and the sooner he goes — the better. But I've been saying this for years, and he's still here, dragging all of us down with him.

Its all about money with Fenty. Always has been and always will be. He has no mitigating factors apart from making/saving money.

When initially he took over like any businessman he would have seen money-making opportunities for relocation, but when that did not go to plan it has meant years of cutbacks and money-saving measures, whilst always ensuring he might/could get his money back one day no matter how rubbish it became at the club with a stadium and team starved of investment.

The revelation on the radio by Mr May that he has had meetings with council officials and John Fenty will explode a bomb in the Council chambers and I would think both his political career and stranglehold at Blundell Park will come to an end in the near future.

That said, it is up to the genuine fans to keep the pressure on. There cannot be anybody left in Grimsby who supports Fenty after this debacle of all debacles.

As was mentioned on the radio - come on Shutes and co. This is the opportunity you have been waiting for. Go public with everything, table an offer for the club and lets get Fenty out.

Just so much that doesn’t add up.

May says he wanted to help with the relocation of the club so wanted to purchase a small number of shares to do so. How would purchasing a small number of shares assist with the relocation? And if his only interest was introducing new parties and investors, why does he personally need to buy shares?

As grimsbypete has said, he’s got to be the least convincing con man in history.

Christ knows about the background of the two other people who introduced him to Fenty, that would be worth digging into.

As someone alluded to further up, even the way he struggled to answer about how many games he's been to in the last few weeks was unconvincing. Sounded very much like he was lying then.

I've just rewound the interview and he said it was Tony Kenworthy and Richard Chester that introduced him to the club, but then he went onto say Tony Kenworthy was a Sheff Utd player and Dave Chester was a director at Sheff Utd.

This whole thing absolutely stinks power, greed and corruption. It makes me feel very uncomfortable knowing the people that run OUR football club are entertaining a convicted fraudster. The fact he even sat there in the stands with the board whilst the rest of us can't attend games absolutely boils my urine.

I am at work so I haven't listened to the radio today, but Alex May saying he will not invest if the fans don't want him is music to my ears. Get in your car and off you pop! As fans all we want is our football club to be ambitious, prosperous and be fronted by people who have it's best interest at hearts both on and off the field. This fire place does not need poking by vultures who want to come in and take pieces of our pie...especially when there isn't much to take anymore. Any investment made by this guy would be extremely dodgy and I for one don't want dirty money in this club.

I wouldn't care if he brought in even more people to invest, I would rather us struggle on but having our morals intact than be a play thing for bent investors.

There is a Richard Chester who is a former CEO at the Wendies. His LinkedIn lists his current job description as:

"Undertaking Due Diligence duties for purchasers of Football Clubs - Designing and developing programmes to aid unemployed individuals in acquiring industry-recognised training - Researching, designing and developing a sports-related database to be used to benefit disadvantaged pupils falling behind in their current educational development"

There is some truth to what he says about his relationship with Kenworthy. Although the article doesn't put may in a great light.

Says he was involved with Lincoln prior to their turnaround. Maybe he introduced them to some of their investors. Sounds like he has a lot of contacts.

Don't see how the article doesn't paint him in a good light, his history is what does that and it seems he'll never get a second chance in something so public as football. Shame if he has something to offer, but assuming that he did commit the fraud, then that is his own doing.

Lies, lies and more lies.

The digger we deep, the more lies we'll find.

People lie to get power, and they lie even more when they get it.

I hope this is just the start of a massive comedown for Fenty and NELC. An investigation is absolutely necessary. That NELC statement was a lie. They claimed it was Fenty's personal life when they, the council, had also held meetings with May.

Out-and-out lie.

If they lie about that, then what else are they capable of lying about?

If you're gonna lie, you have to be very, very good at it. And the whole thing needs to be watertight.

One little leak and the whole thing could come spilling out. That's why I think there's a lot more to come out of this.

A lot more.

I assume he did because the courts saw enough evidence.

So he had an 'affinity' with our rivals before his supposed affinity to Town. Sounds to me like a badge kisser without a shirt. The club has a history for dismissing its own fans who offer something, so why take it further with this one?

His nationality is Zambian and I believe Nates at Lincoln is South African. I bet that interview tested the Fenty-May friendship somewhat.

yes , he sounds a wonderful human being and a real asset to the club.

obviously Nottingham city Council were fools to have refused to do business with him, once they had done due diligence. Your best mate is obviously a much better judge of character. Rather than running a mile the great genius that is Fenty chose to get into bed with him. that's worked out well hasn't it?

I was expecting some sort of smooth talking Mr Charisma. No wonder his lawyer told him not to go on!

I think listening to the very last few moments it maybe wasnt his advisors but JF who told him not to go on ,..something along the lines of " i have spoken to John and he is busy dealing with his things ........but i wanted to come on and state my case"

Smooth talking, charismatic characters tend to set the alarm bells off .....a career conman could adapt a different persona to suit the audience.
