Final score. Sounds like a decent warm up.
Hope the injury is ok.

Only disappointment for me was Scannell again, just didn’t seem arsed again and was blowing in his warm down.

Young kid up too looked decent. Clifton ran his nads off. Fair play to all of them today though, flipping sweltering…

It was nice to be back in a football ground today and we couldn’t have picked better weather for it. Typical of Town to go behind at the first chance we get to see them again though! Obviously fitness is the biggest thing but the non stop effort from Essel was good to see.

All round a good performance but standouts.

1st half.
Pearson - great to see him back. Strong physical and scored a great equalising header

Clifton - both halves. This lad has a superb engine and never stops. Will be giving Hurst a real headache with his midfield selections and looks the fittest player in the squad.

2nd half.
Efete - Michee played really well, capping with a goal. Solid defensively and attacked at every opportunity. Looks like attacking wing backs this season with added threat and service to the top end of the pitch.

Wright - Max looks sharp and with a point to prove. Took his goal superbly and was a lively option out wide all half.

Fox - looks to me like he could be our next Disley. Demanded the ball, got up and down the pitch and has the eye to pick a defence splitting pass.

Edwin Essel. Youth striker who came on for the injured Ryan Taylor, looked keen , fast and keen to impress. Scored with a nice strike and really left a good impression . One for the future. Possibly towns next Romain Burrell.

Couple of noticeable absentees - John-Lewis and Sousa hope they are involved soon and hope Taylors injury/hamstring not too serious.

Apart from a sloppy goal at the start town commanded the game and although tougher games to follow, the signs are there of a strong season for town.

On to the next one and steps towards the league opener.

Great to see Max in there.
i thought he was out until mid season.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Bloody hot day to be runnng around.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

My thoughts completely, I’ve got a sweat on just sitting in the back garden with a tinny in my hand!

Does this result count as a home win, an away win or both?
