Too right mate, he was easily the est player on the pitch.
|
| In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions. Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them. GOD |

Theyll have one of them dramatic mini films, probably on par with if wales got to a world cup final, theyll have rob mceleny and ryan reynolds either a pre recorded interview or pitch side, and itll be the story of wrexhams football league dreams being discussed and then 'but grimsby are here and anything can happen' and thatll be our mention

He did. If he doesn't go down like a sack of spuds then I doubt it gets given. That's not saying it wasn't a foul, but refs don't often give those if you don't go down. Shortly afterwards Wootton gave Waterfall a much bigger shove in our area and we got nothing because he didn't fall down. I don't get the hate of BT. I thought they were pretty balanced, said we were the better team and didn't deserve to lose. Impressed with 2k on a Monday night, well that is impressive. It might have been more if we had more allocation, but doesn't mean 12k at a tier 5 match isn't a very good turnout. They got MoM wrong, but they gave that before the final whistle in normal time and we were losing at the time, so they gave it to the best player on the 'winning' side at the time. How much can you really expect pundits to know about 23 sides in tier 5 that rarely trouble anything more than local news. They were good.

I don’t get the BT Sport hatred either. When I got back I watched the prematch, the goals and all the HT, FT, HT in ET and post match stuff and I found it all well balanced and representative of how I remembered the match.
At the end of the day we were away at a team who only lost 2 home games this season with a front 3 with 54 goals between them and we have at time found scoring goal harder to come by. It’s hardly surprising the pundits all went for a Notts win.

BT Sports analysis was appalling.
sqFirst 15 mins all County. They decided beforehand that County would win, so structured their comments to support this view. How many times did they mention that County had only 2 home defeats, with one of them to Grimsby?
Concentrated on 3 County strikers who scored 52 goals. We were the better team from the off, which upset their predictions. They could not and did not change their mindset. Don’t mention the MOM!!
We had one of their players playing youth football with Mason Mount. How about mentioning the injured Scannell being out and playing for Palace? No mention of the injured Efete to add an attacking threat. Poor research and preparation. It is not hard to do. McAtee has a brother playing for Man City.
BT Sports to start an hour earlier on Sat than scheduled. Have to fit in extended coverage of Hollywoodland. Well it beats Grimsby and fish. They have a star striker who scores frequently.
More importantly, David Beckham was photographed at Wembley on Sun with the owners. That is sure to be featured. The David Beckham who has just been given a 200 million dollar contract to support Quatar with PR for a number of years. Give me Grimsby rather this this glitz.

I’m disappointed that BT didn’t reference James McAtee being on the presentation podium when City where presented the Prem trophy on Sunday, they dredged so many other pointless bits of info up they missed that gem.
What they seem to try and do is tell the story of the NL to the viewers believing 100’s of thousands are tuning in who don’t usually watch it, maybe that’s true but I’d imagine most viewers last night had connections with both sides or the non league pyramid.
Last night was an occasion that the game did all the talking.

Thy also said that when Rodrigues went off in the 82nd min that there was only 8 mins to the end of the match! Meaning that they did not need to manage without him for too long.
Did they not see Man City win from 0-2 down with 3 late goals on Sunday? A relevant comment if we were 3 goals Down, or possibly 2 goals down. But not at 1-0. Very presumptuous of them, biased and just plain wrong.

Twas ever thus...
We are always the underdogs. We are always less glamorous. We are always underestimated.
Which is why it's so f*cking sweet when we beat more 'glamorous' clubs.
(and there's a deep irony about Wrexham being more glamorous than us. Wrexham is not Monaco!)

Apart from the street language comment which was I’ll judged I thought the coverage was ok.The Bt commentators and pundits job is to generate interest and talk up 5th tier football for a National audience intimate knowledge of each team and club isn’t a prerequisite for that. At least BT sport cover the National League unlike Sky /BBC so deserve some leeway for that.

They were obsessed with the last few games for each club. As if that mattered, we rested a whole team at Eastleigh. County played teams in the bottom 4. As the result showed, recent form had no bearing. Why concentrate on it when other analysis was more interesting in the time available.

I see the usual obsessive contrarians made an appearance to disagree with the popular opinion. I'm sorry but if you saw the BT coverage as not biased then I can't imagine what you consider to be biased and one-sided coverage. Almost the entire pre-match was spent bigging up Notts County with a tiny segue to talk about Town for a minute or so. It felt as if they decided the winner before the match and the commentary continued with the narrative. The commentary felt like an England match, they were all in on Notts County, every foul was "that wasn't a foul" or "he made the most of that one" but if one of their players threw themselves on the ball it was a clear foul on them. Constant focus on their players and the drama of their injury crisis, constant views of their bench and close ups of the managers face with drama monologues. It's pretty clear they would have preferred Wrexham vs Notts County for some reason, I guess this small town in the bottom end of nowhere isn't cultured and fashionable enough for them.
