Bad news for Cropper…
Ben Tozer might as well throw the towel in too...after drying the ball with it first of course

Stupid idea. Think how much that’s going to slow the game down, every throwing taking the time to set it up like other set pieces..

Why do they think it needs changing FFS? Trying to justify their huge salaries is the only reason I can think of. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Every throw in will become like a corner or a free kick, Arsene would like a nice 5 yard pass to get the game flowing aesthetically, the reality is most teams will lump every “throw in” into the opposition box

Makes complete sense this, to be fair. Manufacturing a situation whereby the ball is pumped aerially into dangerous positions an additional 40 times per game will go a long way to solving the problem of players suffering serious brain injuries through the repeated heading of balls.

I think the governing body could spend their time better in ensuring that throw-ins are taken from the correct position . It would be better if the linesman marked the spot , like the ref does for free kicks. Then there would be no argument about players "stealing" quite a few yards when the throw was taken. In fact it would be better for the game if existing rules were better enforced as opposed to altering existing ones or introducing new ones.

When this was first suggested many years ago it was pointed out it disrupts the value of different opportunities- a foul results in a free kick that can be launched into the box or maybe struck at goal, putting the ball out of play behind your own goal results in a corner that can be launched into the box, a throw in is just the ball going out of play anywhere around the field so it's only right this should be less potentially damaging to the conceder than the above.
Seems they've forgotten that.
Unnecessary change

I don’t get the constant desire for those at the top to tinker with the rules. If they ain’t broke…
There are only two changes I’d really like to see but doubt they ever will. Something around timekeeping to prevent the constant rolling around and time wasting (True, it’s great when Max Crocombe does it). Maybe stopping the actual match clock at all subs/injuries etc, as we all now it’s a lottery what the ref puts on. Read something a while back saying the ball is only in play 60minutes or so a game.
And if they’re keeping VAR (they are) let’s hear the conversations between officials. Give all spectators a better understanding of what’s happening.
Other than maybe those leave the game alone.

Good point. One lot is trying to cut out heading, another lot is trying to increase heading. Both are being paid oodles of money for their "consultancy". I think football pitches should be marked up round, so no corner kicks, no heading. Simples. Please send a cheque.

I have often thought that rugby have the right idea, where a time keeper stops the clock and restarts it when play restarts. It's simple and works.
Also the game finishes when the ball goes out of play, not while the ball is in play. Free kicks to be taken, to stop someone fouling a player to end the game.
Another change I would like to see is when a free kick is given, the opposition immediately stand over the ball to stop it being taken quickly. I would change the law so that the opposing team must retire ten yards from the kick or risk a yellow card.

For an intelligent bloke you wonder where this excrement comes from…surely he knows nobody is gonna do a dibkynlittle five yard ball, instead choosing to lump it forward, ultimately getting headed clear…

According to the OT twitter feed throw ins waste a lot of time. Surely more time will be wasted with a kick in, especially in the opponent's half. Tall guys coming up from the back etc. just like a free kick into the opponent's box.
A throw ultimately will waste less time. A completely useless idea. It's not broken so doesn't need fixing.

Throw ins or kick ins; it doesn’t matter which. They will both involve faffing around getting the most suitable player to take it and others to get into positions.
I see two possible ways of speeding up the game: 1) time limit ball is out of play, 5 seconds for example before it has to be put back in. This will keep the feeling that the gsme isn’t stopping as much and keep momentum going 2) like others have said, stop the clock when the ball is out of play.

Until we had Cropper's throw I thought that a throwing must be taken by the closest player to where it went out within 10 seconds (of ball being available to him). But now I am not sure.

It's about time that Arsene Wenger intercourse off, with all his stupid ideas, first holding the World Cup every 2 years and now replacing throw ins with kick ins. Was once a good manger, until he thought finishing in the top four of the premiership was an achievement.

Not always the team's fault. I mean you could get a final match of the season, organised by a completely incompetent league, that is played in a huge athletics stadium. Said league then only provide 2 or 3 ball bays for the whole arena, and then, incredibly, only have 1 ball for 120 minutes of the match I know it's difficult to imagine such stupidity or incompetence............

Another barmy idea.
If the power that be had their way there would be a world cup every year, every team in the prem would qualify for some european competition or other, players would play 100 games a season and no relegation for any club owned by a billionaire.
