Best keepers in league 2 3/4 years ago ? Not for me mate a better than average shot stopper combined with a below par commanding box , distribution for me never made him top drawer.

I’m very surprised by his apparent downfall. Ok, so Crocombe is the number 1 nowadays, but Hurst saw fit to start last season with McKeown between the sticks, so he’s clearly good enough for NL level. Mind you, he was also one of the worst performers during our relegation, and maybe this sticks in Hurst’s mind?

Someone said recently that you have to have 3 registered goalkeepers in the EFL (which was news to me), so if that’s the case I’m also surprised that the club didn’t retain him with a reduced 1 year deal. Having him on the books would hardly be scraping the bottom of the barrel, his experience alone must be worth something.

It’s all a bit of a sad situation.

I read through the registration rules and couldn't see it. What it does say is that our squad limit is 22 players but goalkeepers and players under 21 are excluded from that.

In terms of how our goalkeeping situation is currently, if Crocombe got suspended, injured or called up to the New Zealand squad we can get an emergency loan in as Battersby has played in less than 5 League, League Cup and FA Cup games.

I think we'll have another 'keeper coming in before the window shuts, sorry SLAMS SHUT!!! that will coincide with Battersby going on a season long loan to Conference/Conference North level.  They seem to rate him quite highly, but not enough just yet.

Regards Jacob Butterfield, I couldn't believe it when I saw he was training with them and that they're in talks to sign him.   It does seem he's on the downward trajectory a bit but I'm very grateful that a quick Google trawl of him brought me to this story, apologies it's from the Daily Heil.

Funnily enough I was in Morrisons earlier today, and I’m no publication designer, but I have to say that claret and blue really compliments the front page of The Non-League Paper.

Hopefully it’s something they keep going with for years and years and years.

Only played 3 games last season (for St. Johnston)
Before that his last game in UK was 2019 for Luton. I know he played in Australia, but that is not as competitive as the EFL

Was a good player, be interested to see how he gets on back in English football.
