Simmonds needs to learn how to pass a ball to a teammate in a better position rather than trying to dribble through seven defenders in a single run every time he's in possession

It’s a league . Winner tonight goes through

Christ, over complicating it a bit. I know they’ll claim it’s ‘competitive football’ but I’m not sure it is…has all the hall marks of the old Pontins reserve league with a smattering of teams paying 21 year olds who’ll never really play a league game £10k a week…

Average squad number for City tonight is 69 - these kids ain’t getting anywhere near the first team.

In reality, they wouldn’t want the fragile, young, next Phil Foden going up against a bunch of League Two clogggers anyway; the whole concept is bóllocks.

Khan's yellow fair enough but Cropper's yellow, really, and why didn't their player get a yellow then.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

That’s the thing, if any of these were half as good as Foden they wouldn’t be pretending they’re professional footballers in an ‘u23s’ team.

JT mentioned it in commentary about there being nobody there tonight supporting City but I often wonder what sort of Wembley crowd you'd get if two development teams got to the pizza final. Would many City fans travel all that way to watch their youth team? I doubt it and certainly wouldn't expect as many as ýoud get with two league clubs. It might be a good thing as it would embarrass the competition and sponsors if one year we get a Liverpool U21 vs Manchester City U21 final at Wembley in front of a couple of thousand.

In all honesty I feel bad even watching the pizza trophy on a dodgy IPTV firestick but these sort of hypothetical questions run through your head.

Trouble is we're trying to play academy football against them, there centre defenders have time to stand still as long as they want with the ball at their feet, its our players who will be knackered after 70 mins not theres
