With the 5th round being held midweek I was wondering what's people's thoughts are on making it to Southampton?

Remind me how many fans we took to Liverpool in a midweek cup game, when Phil Jevons scored the winner? We filled our allocation.

Now admittedly, Southampton is easily a couple of hours or more longer on the journey time, but knowing how committed Town fans are, it wouldn't surprise me to see us take a crazy and magnificent number of fans down there on March 1st.

I think we had about 7000 there that night IIRC.

Voted not sure

I like to think I can go, travelling is not an issue and I have booked a hotel but with the ability to cancel fee free if needed, getting a ticket won't be too difficult as I have a season ticket,

I just need the Wednesday and Thursday off work, in my team we can't have more than 2 off at time, None of my other colleagues in the team are football fans and don't have those days off so I like to think that shouldn't be an issue.

Have ordered a plane ticket from Stockholm to London on Wednesday, flying home on Thursday. Hope it is possible to get a ticket for the match in the away section. As I do not have a season ticket for natural reasons.

The usual away allocation at Southampton is just over 3,000, but in the unlikely event we can shift that many they’ll give us as many as we need. You’ll get a ticket.

We'd have easily sold it out on a Saturday.

Thanks Klipperty and alike for bullying the authorities into making it a midweek game with no replays!

St Mary's has a capacity of 32,000 and they have to give a minimum 15%, so 4800 by my reckoning.

I feel for anyone who lives in Grimsby as it's a brutal journey but for those of us who live in the South it's doable. I'm in Aylesbury and it'll be 2-3 hours depending on traffic. The London mob will be there.

Just down the road for me so no excuses for not being there so long as I can get a ticket.

But a serious distance from Grimsby so we’ll done to the genius who came up with the idea of making these games midweek.

Now let's see.....

6 hour drive to Boston, Massachusetts, flight to Gatwick, rent a car at Gatwick, hotel for 2 nights in Southampton......

Much as I would love to be there, I won't be able to make it.  It's the Grimsby Live commentary for me again, although sometimes I can get Hullberside on my computer.

My wife still can't understand why there were screams of "GET IN!!!!!!" from my office yesterday.

You are correct. Cup games they allocate 4,800 to away fans.

I'll be there aslong as I can get a ticket. Will leave straight from work and hopefully the a303 won't be too hectic

4 of us going down UTM

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

We've been given full 5k allocation according to the Southampton website. There's no way season tickets will snap them all up so everyone should be able to get a ticket.

We certainly need to make sure we don't give away any free-kicks in sight of goal if James Ward-Prowse is playing.

Probably one of the most efficient and profitable free-kick takers in the Prem.

Surely they'd be insane to risk an injury to JWP against little L2 Grimsby...?

100% agree. Even if they field a relatively strong team, they’ll certainly want to be resting their strongest players such as Ward-Prowse. I’m hoping they they’ll want to focus 100% on the league and play they’re under 18’s… I can dream

Wasn’t in the squad for their game against Blackpool. It wasn’t a side full of kids, but they made plenty of changes.

Expect to see our old friend Willy Caballero, who’s partial to a cup game in front of a big Mariners following. Hopefully he has a little more work to do this time around…

How many did we take to Stamford Bridge in 2019? Can't see why we'd take any fewer to this one. It's not so much further that it would discourage people from going who went to that one.

It's steep!
I was on holiday a good few years ago when it first opened and went to watch Southampton in a pre season friendly vs ajax or someone like that. Sat at the top of the stand and felt if I stepped forward I'd end up on row A!

We apparently opted to take our full allowance of 15% - 4.8k
However it seems they are not expecting a sell out & have thus reserved the entire Northam End Stand to Mariners - so if we take up that offer = 6k. - Can we do that?

We apparently opted to take our full allowance of 15% - 4.8k
However it seems they are not expecting a sell out & have thus reserved the entire Northam End Stand to Mariners - so if we take up that offer = 6k. - Can we do that?

Where does it say that? Only thing I can find shows 4.8k

Massively lucky we have an office in Whitely where I can work from day of the game day after and expense my accommodation.

Ahh but there's the dilemma for me. Using holiday for the Wednesday and Thursday, only to return to work for just one day before the weekend, seems all kinds of wangy to me. Gotta be 3 days holiday or come back on the night and be knackered the next day

I only do Mon-Thu so it is an easier decision for me to make. I’m sure you’ll find something to do on Friday anyway. There’s always a bulb to change or similar.

This is true. There's a tonne of odd jobs I've  put off for yonks, being the thoroughly modern man that I am. Also thinking of staying over for Carlisle so might make it the Friday night. Leisurely drive to the Dales friday aft, take the train from Settle to Carlisle in the morning. Supposed to be picturesque AF

How do you change your vote? I put I couldn't make it midweek. It's nearly 5 hours for me, need two days off work, kids need two days off school. Then I remembered Wimbledon in 1989 at this stage. I was 9, we lost 3-1 and it's still one of my best memories as a Town fan. It's a long way and it's a disgrace the 5th round of the cup is midweek but we're not going to miss it. If there's any way anybody can make it then get yourselves down there as the team deserves all the support we can give them.

Not yet, got 5 to buy on payday this week.

Good to see we’ve already done 1600 on day one, a lot of the people I’ve spoken to who were maybes or weren’t going initially are now going. Should be a decent do.

Stand back and look at it objectively, our away support is incredible. I'm still sticking to 3.5k, we'd have easily sold out if it was a Saturday.

Chelsea? Going past Crystal Palace, Wimbledon and a couple of other decent clubs before you get over Wandsworth Bridge. And not Town either? What did you do so wrong? Just kidding mate
