Who will win League 2?

Signing Or Rumour?

By: Richard Hubbert
Date: 19/05/2003

MARINERS' boss Paul Groves could be set to make his first close season signing with the capture of versatile Derby County player Matt O'Halloran who is reported to be arriving for talks at Blundell Park today.

21 year old Nottingham born O'Halloran is yet to make a first team appearance for the Rams yet but spent part of last season on loan at Nigel Clough's Burton Albion, where he made five appearances, scoring one goal. He can play either in midfield, as he did whilst on loan at Burton, or as an out and out striker. For the past few seasons he has been a part of a successful Derby reserve team and scored four goals for them last season in the Barclaycard Premiere Reserve League.

However, the Mariners face competition for O'Halloran, with Sheffield Wednesday reportedly interested in the player. But manager Paul Groves has been given permission to start building his squad for next season and will be keen to sign O'Halloran, who although is by no means a seasoned professional, could provide a useful addition to the squad.

Matt O'Halloran

Born: Nottingham
DOB: 18/11/82 (21 years old)
Height: 175 cm
Weight: 165 pounds
Previous clubs: Derby County, Burton Albion (loan).
