Where will Grimsby finish?

Dartford v Grimsby Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 03/10/2014

PAUL Hurst will be hoping the Mariners bounce back to winning ways after the disappointing defeat to Southport on Tuesday night, which game on the back of three excellent results. It will be a different challenge at Dartford on Saturday though, not least because the Darts are at home.

The Mariners though really need three points to get their promotion campaign back on track and keep the lids on the critics of the stop-start season Grimsby have experienced to date.

The Mariners as ever have a few players missing through injury. Striker Nathan Arnold has has a reoccurrence of his calf injury, and he joins Aswad Thomas and Jon-Paul Pittman in the ruled out category. Paul Hurst has a rare opportunity to play a settled side if Clay overcomes a sickness bug, but ironically the chance to stick with the same team comes after a poor performance in the previous game.

Grimsby had a good spell when John-Lewis was missing from the team, and probably the biggest criticism Hurst has to face in his continual picking of the big centre forward. In reality with Hannah and John-Lewis being the only fit strikers they'll probably both play from the start if Grimsby go with 4-4-2 again.

Town have experienced all three possible emotions at Princess Park as they have won a game, drawn a game and lost a game in their three visits to Dartford. Last season Grimsby lost the match 1-0 although they dominated the game, but failed to get the ball over the line.
