Ring Town

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 28/12/2018

SWEDISH left back Sebastian Ring has joined Grimsby Town in an 18-month deal. The 23-year-old joins the Mariners from Swedish top flight outfit Orebro SK. Ring is not available to plan until January 1st when the transfer window officially opens, so won't immediately help with the injury crisis.

Ring has made 82 appearances for his hometown side Orebro in the Swedish Allsvenskan and scored two goals. He normally plays left back or left wing back but has also featured as a central midfielder.

Heading the other way is striker Louis Robles, who has left Blundell Park by mutual consent. The 22-year-old has barely featured in the first team.

Town are down to the bare bones defensively and rookie defender Mattie Pollock could make his debut in a baptism of fire at Exeter where the centre back would be up against Jayden Stockley, the second highest scorer in the division. Danny Cowley, Luke Hendrie and Rees Hall-Johnson are all out of action. Another option is Mitch Rose at right back, a position which the holding midfielder played early in his career.
