Overwhelmingly player of the year so obviously a big loss. Let's be realistic.
yes, but....at full back overall we seem better equipped this year - aswad maggers and bignot, vs gregor, east and tait?

Can anyone comment on how Gregor has done compared to when East played at LB. I had worries about Gregors lack of pace or not overlapping. Would you stick with Gregor or play East

Personally I would go with East certainly at home. When teams come and park the bus, Gregor's complete lack of pace means any time the ball is switched to the left the momentum is lost and the opposition easily get across in numbers to cover. If we had East bombing on we might get behind them more and stretch them.

Robertson is a far steadier defender than East but no comparison in terms of going forward.
Despite a lack of pre-season and his more natural defensive game, I've been highly impressed with how Robertson has pushed forward in the games he's played this season. The biggest advantage East has over Robertson is he's much more comfortable on the ball. Robertson never looks at ease and I feel would always favour giving it to someone else (nothing wrong with that - would much prefer honest players who know their limits than those who overdo it).
I think it's fair to say the general consensus regards East going into the season was that he would be back up to the other two. Since then East has established himself as the first choice of the three in my eyes.
Regards Magnay.....I think we've upgraded on him in both East and Tait but we've not gelled yet so haven't quite seen it. Magnay was superb up until Christmas but then his form levelled out and was poor on occasions. He survived much criticism because he was held in such high esteem. What Magnay was very good at doing was covering the back line and he made numerous goal saving challenges doing this. Our current set-up sees the full-backs playing much further up field, almost as wingbacks, definitely not covering the centre-backs through the middle.

He was caught well out of position for one of Macclesfield's goals.

Certainly missed defending headers/high balls that are pumped into the box to the LHS of the keeper..........possibly an issue looking at some of the goals conceded. Also good at talking and trusted by the other 3 defenders and the keeper...................I will now wait to be destroyed!

Don't know. Haven't seen East/Tait other than the Notts game.

Gregor adds balance to the side and we need a settled back 4 to insure maximum defensive solidarity, I'd say our strongest back 4 is: East Toto Pearson Robertson. East has a good touch, is comfortable on the ball and has good pace and an excellent touch. Pearson is Pearson, no explanation needed. Toto is pacey, is good on the ball, sometimes thinks he's a little too good on the ball and gets caught napping. Robertson is steady, solid, composed but lacks pace but isn't completely irrelevant from an attacking sense.
