To those of you on the Paul Hurst thread that are already moaning that Hurst is coming back. Please stop and think for a moment, what the hell are you doing.

Stop and think about the board mandate for consortium to agree a deal that gives John what he’s asked for, to agree terms, and then for them to participate in the urgent and timely appointment of a new manager.

If this is quite clearly what has happened, then approximately 30% of you are already taking issue with and moaning about the decision of the consortium in respect of their manager, even before the ink is set on the share sale agreement. Incidentally, the choice of managers being the singlemost criticism fans have had of John Fenty over the years. The primary key in unlocking success or failure during his tenure. Please stop it now, as the consortium won’t stand for it and might easily not complete on the sale if they already feel the heat of your angst.

To those of you that are on that thread, happy with the appointment of Paul Hurst. Are you happy that this is a consortium appointment? Because if it isn’t, then it’s a John Fenty appointment. Which it is anyway when you think about it, as he holds the purse strings presently. Do you really think John would appoint a manager mid sale, that he wouldn’t be happy with should the sale fall over before completion? No he wouldn’t. So essentially 70% of you are backing a John Fenty decision, made under his stewardship.

So is there a moral to this story. Clearly there is and as you read this, you will realise that you sit in one of the two camps above. And you really can’t have it both ways. What is abundantly clear is that no matter who owns the club, they will never be clear of the continuous scrutiny, criticism and vitriol that has long since been a pandemic amongst those that support Grimsby Town Football Club. In summary, to me we have a problem, a disease or condition that can be summed up and described in one word.... “GRIMSBY”.

You have crossed a line here and it is completely unacceptable for you to imply that the fan base is some form of disease. I will make Phillip Day aware of this account as it is certainly masquerading as a moniker for him and I doubt he would find your accusations acceptable either in his name or not. Given the out going board's portence for legal action I would ask you to consider deleting your comments or no longer continue using this account.

This fan base as a whole is one of the most passionate, intelligent and patient in English Football, the inability of our out going board to harness that energy is another of their considerable failings. No other club in the last 5 years have been given a quarter of a million to support it on top of the usual income the fans input in to the club. The club's survival on fans income is one of the highest in the whole football league as a percentage. No other fan basis has been as patient with ongoing incompetence, failure and contempt shown to it then our own. It's incredible it has taken this long for fans to even speak about participating in a boycott of the inadequate individuals at the top.

I sincerely hope you are not a part of the out going board but the contempt in which you hold the fan base is very indicative of their behaviour over the last decade.

I am very much looking forward to seeing fewer trolls like you in our new era for the club.

Mr Cat, I think you must be blind or blinkered at least.

Neither, I just really haven’t seen anyone in the “football community” as you put it state anything other than fact.

Like I said I don’t have time to explore every avenue and I politely asked you for an example. I’m sure a man in IT knows how to copy and paste a link.

I thought you left?

You are clearly connected to the club and the Fenty inner circle in some way so do tell

No I’m not. I promise you I am not.

Choose to accept that or not, doesn’t really matter.

Maybe the question should really be, why do people find it so hard to understand that there are people out there that won’t or don’t see things the same way as they do. Are you all that confident in your own opinions and beliefs that you find it impossible to accept that others think differently?

Some, most possibly, will be sat there now thinking, that you hate or disagree with what Noche has said over the last few days. Because you want on-field success for your football club. But inside, it will also be killing you every time I make a point, no matter how small that point is, that you actually agree with. You couldn’t possibly concede that though, because it just wouldn’t be right for you and how you feel and what ambitions you have for your club.

For my part I’ll happily concede any valid points that counter my opinion. As I’ve said from the start, I’m not against the takeover

Be nice and play nicely. It makes a big difference to the world you know

I haven’t crossed any line at all. It’s my opinion.

Do your worst. Go and complain to the Chairman.

How ironic is it now that someone from this hive of anti GTFC board members, that someone now wishes to complain to the chairman that is valued so low on this website. You really couldn’t make this up.

Oh well.

I’m sorry that you don’t like that. But sadly I can’t change it. I’m a bit of a snob I guess in the written word. Be assured though, I mean no malice. Have a great day

It’s a forum you bell end. 99% wanted rid of Fenty, 30% or whatever you are saying don’t want PH. I’d hazard a guess 99% of people don’t want you on here after the week or so you’ve crawled from beneath your reclining chair and foot stall at Blundell Park.

Whilst I understand the context of what you are saying, locally around here it’s gone further than that.

Elements of the football community have taken things much further than opinions. Their comments, actions and accusations have been vile, personal and highly offensive. They’ve gone above and beyond having an opinion on football and the running of a club. They really have.

Yes unfortunately some of that has happened, some of the stuff people post on Twitter specifically is very unsavory. Pictures of JFs house etc. I don't like to see the word cancer banded about, which to be fair to a lot of posters on here call out very quickly.

You seem to have the posting 'bug' now anyway seeing as you are back today. Stick around longer, you will see this can be a decent place to chat with other fans, just have a look at the Ollie collection thread and you will see this place does things which do reflect positively on the fanbase.

The consortium should and will be judged by the performance of their management of the club over time. If Paul Hurst is successful in his second stint at the club that will be reflected by the sentiment of the fans.

If he is unsuccessful (and we are relegated for example) that will also be reflected, though imagine most will correctly apportion most of that blame to the outgoing regime - we should not be finding ourselves in this position again.

Time will be the ultimate test, however the reason there is overwhelming support for the consortium at this time is based on a combination of their collective long-term reputations in business and that Fenty and the current board have sullied their own reputation through years of mismanagement, amateur communications (at best) and an association with a serially convicted criminal. If that wasn’t true, none of this would be happening.
