I’m a big PH fan..and don’t see him going anywhere yet..but also agree with Poojah’s thoughts in that if an opportunity arises he’d consider it. For that to occur Town need to be up there in top 7/8 at Christmas, you could argue that is what we should be looking to achieve ourselves anyway.

Hurst has done a cracking job here, and whilst acknowledging the views of some about the home form and ‘methods’ - there were some factors behind those that we shouldn’t have this time around. Hurst has said numerous times he knows the areas we need to improve, and identified the types of players he wants - I’ve a gut feeling there’ll be a more positive intent and he’ll introduce a bit of creativity mixed with a stronger midfield physically, and maybe the centre forward (though I’m not convinced it’ll be - or need to be - someone knocking in 15 a season or more) ..he’s always set his sides up defensively minded, and hard working/organised - rightly so imho - and numerous other clubs commented and complimented us on that front - but I’ve a feeling Hurst may acknowledge you need a bit more to progress.

Funny thing is football though..and the way everyone views things differently..another view could be Hurst has been back 3 years now (or thereabouts) and that is quite a lengthy spell in managerial terms. It could be we reach a plateau and he moves on, or it could be he and we continue to progress. I hope it’s the latter - but it wouldn’t be the greatest shock in the world if next season was his last here.

I know it seems to be the go to aspect of last season, but the pre-season didn’t help one bit. It didn’t allow for us to get the right players in (each team had a couple of weeks headstart) and those we did had to take their time to ‘gel’ with new players , system etc we also seemed to have an unlikely set of injuries throughout the season. Mcatee was always playing catch up and Taylor’s injury didn’t help. But, with all things  considered  PH and his management team did remarkably well to get us to 11th AND the 1/4 final of the fa cup.

The board, imho, are doing great and it seems they are promoting the town/area wherever possible. And are building the right kind of relationships for the club.

Yes, there  are things we all want to happen; new ground, main stand, knowing the actual capacity etc but after 2 years, we’ve come a long way and considering what it could’ve been like  (Alex may/Fenty), I think that we are on a sure footing for the future

I think Woz makes a valid point. Getting to the play off final and the new season starting so soon after made last summer very difficult for planning and recruitment. We were a couple of weeks behind everyone.

Whilst we brought in some good players we also seemed rushed into getting bodies into the squad. Notably our loan deals which were primarily for young inexperienced players who struggled to make any impact. It made covering injuries and poor form hard.

We were very light in attacking options all season which was even more apparent when Taylor and McAtee were out.

I would have snapped your hand off for an 11th place finish with 60+ pts and a memorable cup run if you'd asked me a year ago. My only gripe is that it wasn't the most exciting football a lot of the time.

This year with a proper break and pre season and the promise of some funds being made available for the playing staff i hope we can kick on and improve further. Not going to make rash predictions and say it's promotion or failure but if we managed to achieve what we did this year with what he had then with some decent signings and we are not a million miles from the being in the hunt for play offs .

Saying that about the shortness of the break between the last 2 seasons, I think we have coped amazingly this last season where we played 59 games in league and cups. Added on to the 50+ games we played the season before too, there can't be many more teams in the lower leagues, if any at all, who have played more games than us over the last 2 seasons. You certainly can't fault the fitness of the players

Bang on. I fancy about 20/1 for the title and about 7/1 to go up. Head or heart,  is the question.

There's talk of Owen Gallacher coming to us as he's from Newcastle, what's he like?

Played so little here it's difficult to assess really.

Started early on after signing him against Northampton away.  Seemed one of the better players in an otherwise abject first half.  Showed a lot of pace and was eager to knock it past his man.

Made a brief sub appearance and then just one more start at home to Mansfield when he was hooked at half-time.  Didn't think he was particularly bad that day but didn't set the world on fire either.

We've played 3-5-2 for most of the time he's been here, which apparently is the system that suits him, with both Glennon and Amos failing to really make their mark on the position yet he's failed to offer a legitimate challenge.

About 5ft 9”. Mousey brown hair. Hazel eyes. Understood to like piña colada’s and getting caught in the rain. Has been known to play football for money (but not all that often).

That’s about all I could tell you tbh.

Barely played and when he started, he got subbed at half time. Gateshead fans can probably tell you a bit more about him.
