Just having a look through the latest teams to release their retained list and released players, there are increasing numbers of talented players available in all positions. The season might look a lot more rosey if we pull a few names in..

My heart says he comes back here ,gets fit ,firing and plays twenty to thirty games . Ability wise he was up there - reminded me a bit of John Oster - decent technical ability , relatively two footed with the added blistering turn of pace.Hurst rated him no doubt, even our Russell (Slade ) thought 'Maxi ' had a bright future in the game,someone who very rarely gave youngsters a chance ; he has ability way beyond league 2 .

My head says his body weakness (whatever that is) and the inability to stay fit will means  he will  drop down the leagues making relatively few appearances and eventually fade out the game altogether .

Want  to be proven wrong , loved Maxi  .


I liked max but I'm afraid John oster and max wright were a million miles apart in terms of ability

Because size of club and high salary will always be a draw re big  Sam, it might be a game to you but it's financial future security to him and in fairness he would be right to prioritise between the two

I think Newell and maybe Jolley also had similar personal percentages on certain contracts too. Think it's possibly a more widespread practice than we might realise

The incentive doesn't bother me. Dario Gradi had it at Crewe for years. You can legitimately argue it encourages managers to develop long term plans that integrate the youth development.

It's when you get managers playing kids just to get them on the radar of other clubs, rather than for their own development and benefit.

Football is cutthroat. Players can start well and then tail off for various reasons. Looking at the global game top level stars like Hazard who are getting released at  Real Madrid reflect that. Has a excellent tenure at Chelsea and following a injury plagued period Madrid don't want him.
