Oh, for f#ck's sake this had better not be true.  This is a blow, no doubt.  Bl##dy Chesterfield as well!  They're punching above their weight up there, I reckon.

He'll be hard to replace.  Our best central midfielder, definitely.

Anyone who is seriously having a go at any player, not just Nolan, for leaving for a better placed club to earn more money needs to take a serious look at themselves.

It's a job to them. A job in a very short career.
Put yourself in their shoes, you get a short-term contract with a company and at the end of it you've done so well that said company are prepared to give you a longer deal.  However a bigger company with better prospects are now offering you even more money.

How many on here would stay with the first job?

Depends on circumstances. If I'd been performing poorly for a number of years and a company took a punt on me and resurrected my career, truthfully I'd be inclined to stay with them for a little longer at least as a show of gratitude.

You're right that it's a short career and I do genuinely wish him well as he's played a big part in getting us back to the FL. He has absolutely every right to get the most amount of money available to him. I just feel a bit more loyalty to a man who has played a huge part in rescuing your career wouldn't have gone amiss, maybe I'm old fashioned.

It's what happens when you are non league and hand out short contracts i'm afraid. One of the benefits of being back in the league is more stability in this area.  If he is moving on, then he gets my thanks for a short but telling stay at BP.

Edit: confirmed whilst posting. Good luck Jon and nice use of the scouse "use".

Oddly enough, I said on here only yesterday that I hoped he'd stay but feared he'd be poached by a League 1 club. Hardly surprising then if true. A stand-out player for me since his arrival; he'll be a great asset to any lower league club with his never-say-die attitude. While many seemed to me to be already on holiday on Sunday (and yes, I was actually there), Nolan was one of few players showing the real desire to win. Good luck to him wherever he goes, if he does.
