The actual loss of Nolan is massive though.

Whilst we can console ourselves that Hurst has found gems before and he'll find another, his track record in finding central midfielders isn't all that great.  Arguably it's the position he's weakest in.

Disley was a great signing and has remained a mainstay for the last five years.  Clay was a rough diamond that has turned out better than most thought would, but many still have doubts over him.   The rest of the central midfield signings have generally disappointed.

I'm sure Hurst will already have someone in mind to replace Nolan and I do trust him to find a suitable replacement, I'm just not sure it'll be as easy as some think.

There's no loyalty in football any more. We signed Nolan for 6 months and had he not been any good we would have dumped him. As it happens he's been excellent and it's been noticed so good luck to the lad and thanks for contribution. He's got bills to pay the same as the rest of us and if someone offers more money he has to go for it.

Very disappointed by this but grateful for the job he did for us. I wish him all the best. Feels similar to Townsend (even though he was only on loan).  We put them in the shop window and they did us proud.

Hopefully at some point today we'll get some good news.

Fair play to you then.
Personally I would do exactly the same as him, look after No. 1.

Fair enough, entirely up to the individual and there's no right or wrong answer. Certainly when you've played your part in bringing success to current/previous employer!

Absolutely!

The fact he's got offers from higher clubs is evidence that he's done a good job for us, one that we've benefited from.

Win win situation really.

We are a more attractive prospect now though and will have a different bracket of players to look at.

We have been down and have become prey to the teams that have left us behind. Hopefully we will work our way back up and start being a team that takes players from the sort of team we are at the moment. We are vulnerable to this type of swoop but hopefully that will change over the coming season or two.

God I hope so, it's galling having the vultures cherry pick our finest. Nolan could be worth some serious moolah in time.

I assume that PH would have been informed of his and others intentions quite early on and therefore would already have been looking for replacements. In PH we trust! UTM

If its true Hursty has known about this for a while I'm sure he's got targets in mind.
